Beijing Chengde Jinshanling Great Wall 2 Day Tour

Picked up from your hotel in Beijing at about 6:30am by our English speaking tour guide with private vehicle and you are transferred to Beijing Railway Station. Our tour guide will assist you in doing the procedure and escort you to the train carriage. You will take 1-hour high-speed train for Chengde and arrive at Chengde Nan Railway Station. You will be met by our Chengde tour guide at the exit of Chengde Railway Station. Then start your tour.

First visit the Puning Temple , originally built in 1775, it is a treasure house of the ancient arts of architecture and sculpture.This temple boasts of the largest wooden image of Buddha ( about 24 meters high ) in the main building of the temple, hence the nickname"Big Buddha Temple".

After lunch, visit the Mountain Resor t. It was the largest royal garden during that time. Over two hundred years ago Emperor Kang Xi (1662-1723) happened to find the place while making a hunting trip. It is said that it took 87 years to finish the building of a lavish and ancient palace. The palace is surrounded by a wall over ten kilometers long, meandering along the mountain ridges. It is the largest and best-preserved imperial palace outside of the capital Beijing.

After breakfast, visit Putuo Zongcheng Temple , also called Little Potala Palace. It was built in 1767. It is one of the Eight Outer Temples outside the Mountain Resort. It is similar to the Potala Palace in Lhasa. The buildings are a blend of Han and Tibetan styles. It used to be a location for important religion ceremonies, now, it has become an important monument in Chengde. The visit takes about two hours.

Then, drive 100km southwestward and get to Jinshanling Great Wall . Jinshanling Great Wall was initially built from 1368 to 1389 in the Ming Dynasty, and in 1567 or 1570 rebuilding of the Wall was mainly directed by General Qi Jiguang. The Wall is about 21 to 24 feet high and 15 to 18 feet wide, which is made of brick and stone.

After two hours' hike, transferred back to Beijing around 7:00pm.
