After breakfast, first visit the Longmen Grottoes . It is situated on the Yihe River banks, about 12 kilometers from Luoyang city. It is one of the three most valuable Buddhist caves and rock carvings in China. The grottos were first carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), when the rulers relocated their capital from Datong to Luoyang at the end of the 5th century.
Then continue to visit the White Horse Temple , the first Buddhist Temple ever built in China, the important cradle of Chins's buddhism, which was introduced into China from India in 68AD in Eastern Han Dynasty (25 AD – 220 AD) , the same year when the white horse temple was built.
After lunch, take one and half hours'drive to Shaolin Temple about 80 km away from Luoyang city. Shaolin Temple is the birthplace of Chan Buddism-cradle of Shaolin Kongfu. In the temple you will have the chance to enjoy the real Kung fu performance by the monks. Shaolin Temple is famous not only as one of China's most important Buddhist temples, but also as the center of Chinese kung-fu. After Shaolin Temple tour, drive back to Luoyang and stay overnight in Luoyang.
