Xining Lhasa 7 Days Train Tour

Arrival in Xining, picked up and transferred to your hotel in Xining. You are free for rest of the day.

After breakfast, drive to Qinhghai Lake, 150km west of Xining. Qinghai Lake is a saline lake and the largest inland saltwater lake in China. It has abundant fish and other aquatic creatures, which in turn draws large flocks of birds to perch in the islands of the lake. On the way, you will have a stop to see the Mt. Sun and Moon, where the princess Wenchen threw the mirror down and married into the Tibetan area in the Tang Dynasty. Return to your hotel in Xining.

Meals: Hotel Western breakfast and Chinese lunch

After breakfast, visit Ta'er Monastery. The Ta'er Monastery (Kumbum Monastery) is situated in Huangzhong County 25 kilometerss southwest of Xining. It is one of the two most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries outside Tibet. After lunch, transferred to Xining Train Stationa and take Train No.Z8981 (12:50 - next day 10:25) for Lhasa (4-bed cabin). Overnight on train.

Meals: Hotel Western breakfast and Chinese lunch

Arrival at Lhasa in the morning and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa. Free for the rest of the day to acclimate to the climate and altitude.

Today's sightseeing: The Potala Palace, The Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street

- Potala Palace: Potala Palace is perched on the 130m-high Marpo Ri ( Red Hill ) with 13 storeys and more than 1000roms in the middle of Beijing Road, the heart of Lhasa City.

- Jokhang Temple: The 1300-year-old Jokhang Temple is now the spiritual center of Tibet. From earliest dawn to last light, daily worshippers and once-in-a-lifetime pilgrims make the inner circumambulation (kora) of the Jokhang to earn religious merit.

- Barkhor Street: The Barkhor is the oldest street in Lhasa as well as the center of old Lhasa and remains very traditional.

Today's Sightseeing: Norbulingka, Tibet Museum, The Carpet Factory, Sera Monastery

- Norbulingka Park: It once served as the summer palace for dalai lamas from 7th Dalai Lama who first built the palace.

- Tibet Museum: Tibet Museum has three exhibition floors. It has abundant historical relics and treasures including prehistoric culture, united culture, culture and art, customs.

- Sera Monastery: Located 5km north of Lhasa, this monastery was the first Gelugpa monastery in Lhasa and has remained the main seat of this major Buddhist order ever since.

After breakfast, you are free till your transfer to Lhasa Train Station or Lhasa airport for your next destination.
