Saudi Arabia recruited Twitter workers to spy on users, feds say

San Francisco — Saudi Arabia's government recruited two Twitter employees to get personal account information on some of their critics, prosecutors with the U.S. Department of Justice said Wednesday.

A complaint unsealed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco detailed a coordinated effort by Saudi government officials to recruit employees at the social media giant to look up the private data of thousands of Twitter accounts. The accounts included those of a popular journalist with more than 1 million followers and other prominent government critics.

Trump will welcome Turkey's president to White House just weeks after Syria offensive

Washington — President Trump will welcome Turkey's authoritarian president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the White House next Wednesday, just weeks after Turkey launched an assault in northern Syria against the Kurds, staunch U.S. allies in the fight against ISIS.

Mr. Trump said he spoke to Erdogan by phone on Wednesday afternoon and confirmed his visit for November 13 — the same day the House Intelligence Committee will hold the first public hearings of the impeachment inquiry. The Turkish government also confirmed the date of the visit.

Ever since President Donald Trump said he and President Xi Jin(ping) would meet to sign a trade deal, Wall Street has been hanging on every speculative word about where and when that signing might take place.

So it was not surprising when stocks sold off Wednesday morning on a Reuters headline that quoted Trump administration sources as saying the phase one trade deal could be delayed until December and that Europe is a likely venue. CNBC confirmed the report.

BEIJING (AP) — Global stock markets mostly rose on Wednesday as investors assessed developments in U.S.-Chine(se) trade talks following reports Beijing wants Washington to lift punitive tariffs.

Markets rose in much of Europe, as they did in Japan, while the Shangh(ai) index declined and Hong Kong’s was flat. Wall Street futures were up slightly.

Erdogan: Turkey captures slain IS leader al-Baghdadi's wife

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Turkey has captured a wife of the slain leader of the Islamic State group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Erdogan made the announcement while delivering a speech in the capital of Ankara on Wednesday but gave no other details. He did not say when or how the woman was captured or identify her by name.
