Huanglong, Chengdu

With the altitude of more than 3,000 meters, Huanglong is one of the highest places of interest. It is best known for its unique karsts sight.

Huanglong is about 35 kilometers east of Songpan County. It is a valley stretching from south to north of Yucui Mountain, 7.5 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide. Because it is full of yellowish rocks, and when viewed in the distance, the valley looks as if were a winding yellow dragon amid the dense forest.

It is famous for its unique geological structure, it enjoys matchless chromatic ponds, large or small, in the valley. Different in form and in depth, they have very clear waters. When surrounding scenery and the angle of the sun change, they present different colors. Therefore, they are reputed as “early abode of fairy mother goddess”.
