Shichahai, a nice place to walk at night in Beijing

Shichahai area in Beijing is a good place for an evening stroll. It is situated to the north of Beihai Park. Take subway line 6, get off at the station of Beihai North ( 北海北) and exit from Exit B and walk to the east direction for about 400m, and you will see a lake on your left side. This is Qianhai Lake (Front Lake), one of the three lakes in Shichahi area. The other two lakes are Houhai Lake ( Back Lake) and Xihai Lake (West Lake).

The traditional hutongs and courtyard houses along the Qianhai Lake and Houhai Lake have been turned into restaurants, bars and cafes. It is a great place for a night out. You have many bars and restaurants to choose from. Many of them play live music and have comfortable couches outside, great for dining, drinking, people watching. Richshaw rides, and night boating are also attractive to many tourists.

If you have no passion for a drink and dining, or you think they are overpriced and touristy, just take a leisure evening walk along the lakes past a neon fantasia of restaurants and bars.
