Ice skating is a traditional winter pastime for the local Beijing people. If you are scheduled to visit Beijing in winter, specifically in the coldest two months from later December through the early February, you may go to Shichahai Skating Rink (什刹海滑冰场) for winter ice skating fun in Beijing.
Actually Shichahai Skating Rink is mainly composed of two major skating rinks - Houhai Lake Skating Rink and Qianhai Lake Skating Rink (see the Beijing Hutong Map below), and every often people would use the term "Houhai Lake" to refer to Shichahai area as a whole.

Shichahai Ice Skating Rink ( aka Houhai Lake & Houhai Lake Skating Rink)
Houhai has many laid-back old hutongs and courtyards, a leisure and authentic Beijing area, not much affected by the gentrification in Beijing.
There are several booths to buy your entrance tickets to the huge skating rink in Shichahai (both Houhai Lake and Qianhai Lake).
Entrance Fee for Comprehensive Area (Ice Wagons, Ice Bikes...)
Day time: Time: 09:00 - 17:30; entrance fee: 60 yuan (weekday); 80 yuan (weekend and holidays)
Night time ( Only available at Qianhai Skating Rink) Time: 18:00 - 21:30; entrance fee: 60 yuan (weekday); 80 yuan (weekend and holidays)
The entrance fee covers ice wagons, and ice bikes.
Entrance Fee for Ice Fast Skating
Day time: Time: 09:00 - 17:30; entrance fee: 30 yuan (weekday); 40 yuan (weekend and holidays)
Night time ( Only available at Qianhai Skating Rink) Time: 18:00 - 21:30; entrance fee: 30 yuan (weekday); 40 yuan (weekend and holidays)
Note: Skating shoes rental: 30 yuan and 100 yuan as deposit .
