Hohhot by High Speed Train

Xilamuren Grassland

Pick up from your hotel around 6:30 and transferred to Beijing North Train Station . Take high speed train to Hohhot from Beijing.

Arriving at Hohhot at 7:25am, met by our English speaking tour guide at Hohhot Railway Station and transferred to a hotel for buffet breakfast . After breakfast, then drive directly to Xilamuren Grassland . About 100 km north of of Hohhot, Xilamuren Steppe is located in Darhan Muminggan United Banner in Baotou.

Xilamuren literally means "yellow river" in Mongolian. Xilamuren Grassland is teemed with green grass and fresh flowers every summer and autumn. Thanks to to the continual efforts made by the local government, the service quality is becoming better and better. As result, Xilamuren has been turned into one of the must visited pastures in Inner Mongolia.

Arriving at Xilamuren Grassland, you will receive a welcoming ceremony - you will be warmly welcomed by the local Mongolians colorfully dressed. They will present each of you a silver cup of wine and Hada,white or blue silk scarves, which are tokens of greetings in Inner Mongolia.

Then check in your yurt for the overnight stay here. Two people share one yurt. Then go to the main restaurant for lunch. After lunch, go to the stud farm to select the horse for your horseback riding . The cost for horseback riding is not included in the tour package. Usually RMB 380 per round per person including the horse riding, visiting Aobao and a herdsmen's family, which usually takes about 2 hours. The horseback is the highlight of the tour (pay on your own) .

After horseback riding, you are arranged to see the Performances of Mongolian style wrestling , Horse racing and Equestrian . The first program is wrestling competition performed by local Mongolians. Most of them are very vigorous. Then followed by Horse racing and Equestrian.

Dinner will be also arranged in the main hall of the Xilamuren Restaurant . Most of dishes are the local products in the inner Mongolia. The local people are very hospitable. Several local girls drink toasts to the clients during supper. You are supposed to pay the singer if you order a song from these pretty girls.

So, after dinner, take a break till 9:pm when you go to an open place in front of the main complex to enjoy bonfire party . There is a large stage for the performers. A bonfire is ignited in front of the stage. Almost all the people on the grassland will gather her in the evening. They form a circle and dance or let off fireworks. People enjoy the wonderful local songs and dances presented by the local Mongolians under a starry sky.

Resonant Sand Gorge

The sunrise on the grassland is one of the greatest marvelous spectacle in nature. If you don't want to miss the chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the grassland, you are advised to get up around 4:00 in the morning. Finding a wide place and waiting. Everything is dark before the sunrise. With the sun coming out, everything turns brighter and brighter.

If you are too tired to get up for the sunrise, we do suggest you get up a little bit earlier, enjoy walking around and inhaling fresh air. The view near these yurt area is fantastic - lake, green grassland, fresh air and more.

After simple breakfast, you will start for the Resonant Sand Gorge 65km south of Baotou. The highway from Hohhot to Baotou is about 140 km. You will have lunch at Baotou. The drive from the grassland to the Resonant Sand Gorge takes about 4 hours.

Baotou is the largest city in Inner Mongolia. It is said the city construction planing was made by former Russian experts with a prospect of 100 years. So Baotou city is well organized now. It is a green city, dotted with parks and lakes. It is one of the cleanest cities in China. Baotou is a narrow and long city along the Yingshan Mountain. It is divided into two parts - east and west. The east part is the traditional part of the city while the west part is the new development zone.

After lunch at Baotou, we drive to Resonant Sand Gorge about 65km south from Baotou. After arriving at the Resonant Sand Gorge, you will be arranged to take the following activities : Sand sliding ( one time), Camel Riding(6-7 minutes）; Sand Surfing Driving（6-7 minutes ), Beach Motor Driving (6-7 minutes), Desert Adventure Driving (6-7 minutes), Railed bike riding ( 6-7 minutes), and Flying high on a zip line.

Then enjoying the sand sliding for one time . For more activities, you are requested to pay by yourself. Then drive back to Hohhot. After dinner, check in at our designated hotel in Hohhot.

You will have a free and easy morning to recharge yourself. After lunch in Hohhot, you will be arranged to visit Dazhao Monastery , and Inner Mongolia Museum . Dazhao Monastery is the largest and best preserved lama temple in Hohhot. It was founded originally in Ming Dynasty, and reconstructed in Qing Dynasty. As the first Lama temple in Hohhot, it has been regarded as a religious heart for people from all over Mongolia.

Inner Mongolia Museum is located in the heart of Hohhot and is the largest and best museum in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It has a wide selection of ethnic Mongolian items, and a historical lineage of this huge grassland province. The museum is home to a variety of interesting exhibitions that should catch your eyes.

After dinner, transferred back to your hotel in hohhot
