There are 12 National Highways and nine expressways radiating from Beijing in all directions, making Beijing the largest overland travel hub in China linking the major domestic cities.

There are major 10 long-distance bus stations in Beijing. Each coach station has own bus routes while some overlap their travel routes. Most of the 10 long-distance coach stations are located close to the third ring road around Beijing.

Beijing Long-distance Coach Travel Tips:

• Be clear of your destination and your bus station.
• You can buy your bus ticket on board, or you may book in advance during tourist high season.
• Your route may include many layovers, which could take 5 minutes to 20 minutes.
• Before you are on board, you should eat some food. Don’t eat on board.
• Some buses stop only once or twice between the departure and destination cities.
• To use a toilet, you should remind your driver to stop at a service area.
• Avoid to take a long-distance bus in a rainy or foggy day.
• Bring a rubbish bag on to your coach.
• Drink less to reduce the chance to use a toilet.
• Holiday weekends are especially busy.
• Don’t sleep on board.
