Plan your Lhasa tour? It is an engaging experience to walk on Beijing Road, especially Beiing East Road to feel the pulse of the vibrant capital city of Tibet – Lhasa.
Lhasa Beijing Road is the busiest and longest city avenue running from east to west with its middle section (Beijing Middle Road) abutted by Potala Palace.

The Beijing Road east of Potala Palace is called Beijing East Road; the Beijing Road west of Potala Palace known as Beijing West Road while its section abutted by Potala Palace called Beijing Middle Road.
Beijing East Road is immersed into the diversified Tibetan cultural elements since the east section of Beijing Road is in the traditional Tibetan residential area and most of Lhasa’s ancient religious and historical sites are located around Beijing East Road. Ramoche Temple is to the north of Beijing Road while Barkhor Street and Jokhang Temple to the south of Beijing East Road.
On Lhasa East Road, you see the magnificent Tibetan houses lined along the street. The Beijing East Road is rife with butcher’s, groceries, fruit vendors, inns, hotes and small streetfront shops.
Three or Four-storey Tibetan buildings with its ground floor open to front stores for business.

The Beijing Middle Road looks newer and fresher with bigger stores. Walking from Beijing East Road to the Beijing West Road, you will see some inns and hotel with good locations. Lhasa Yak Hotel








Most of Han people and Muslims live around Beijing West Road. Quite different from the Tibetan elements on Beijng East Road, all the buildingd on Beijing West Road are built in the modern style like other big cities.
