Shuangshitou Village ( or Double Stone Village ) is located in the valley sandwiched by the east hillside and the west hillside, 5km north of Zhaitang Town in Mentougou District Beijing. The village takes its name from the two huge stones in the village. Its name also suggests the village is built of stones on the ancient post road. Shuangshitou Village is now part of the Cuanbai Scenic Area which also covers Cuandixia Village, Baiyu Village and Huanglingxi Village.
Overlooking from the hillsides, the over 500-year old ancient village looks like a phoenix extending its wings. Stone culture is found everywhere in the village - stone mills, stone mortars, stone walls and stone houses built on the stones.
Shuangshitou Village is divided naturally into two parts - east hillside and west hillside. The main village road passes through the village from south to north with the north higher and souther lower. Most the families in the acnient village has two surnames - Wang and Song. The village is now comprised of 28 households with 14 surnamed Wang and 8 surnamed Song. The village takes an area of about 4.5 km square at the sea-level of 524 meters.

Self-drive route:
Drive along the National Highway No.109 ( G109 ) from the west Beijing - at the distnce of about 80km turn right at Zhaitang Town with the placard pointing to Cuanbai Scenic Area. Public Transport: First the subway Line 01 and get off at Pingguoyuan Station, then connect Bus 929 for Cuandixia Village (get off at Shuangshitou Viilage).
Now we are approaching Shuangshitou Village.

This is the Stone-Top House. The Stone-top House was built between late Ming and Qing Dynasties. People come here to burn incense, worship buddhism, pray for rain, and perform other rituals.
The huge stone is the Shuangshitou Village's ancestor stone. It is about 7 meters high and 14 meters long. Such a hue stone is qute rare in nothern China.
