The Duan Qirui Executive Government Former Site stands at No. 3 Zhangzizhong Road in Dongcheng District, Beijing. The compound was originally built in the late Qing period for the Army and Navy ministries and is one of Beijing's notable early modern government building groups.
In 1912, after Yuan Shikai became provisional president of the Republic of China, the presidential office and State Council were both set here. In 1924, the compound became the seat of Duan Qirui's executive government, and it is also associated with the March 18 Incident of 1926.
Today the site is primarily protected as a historic compound and used by institutions. Visitors should check the current access rules before going and stay within areas that are open to the public.
Access can vary because the compound is protected and partly used by institutions. Confirm current opening arrangements before visiting.
