Zhanghenshui (1895-1967) was originally called Zhang Xinyuan. A native of Guangxin in Jiangxi Province, he was one of China’s best novelists. His novels include Jinfen Shijia (The Story of a Noble Family or Golden Family) and Tixiao Yinyuan (Fate in Tears and Laughter).
