To get under the skin of the capital city of Beijing, you need to delve into the traditional hutong area – an old neighbourhood that consists of a warren of narrow back lanes, quaint courtyards, and teems with people, a vibe of sights, sounds and aromas – the Old World Charm in Beijing.
Shichahai, or popularly known as Houhai or Back Lake in English, is such a wonderful mix where you will lose yourself in the maze-like traditional hutong – Beijing’s heart and soul.
Houhai is still thriving and very much alive, with chic bars and quaint restaurants offering drinks and traditional food, rife with authentic Beijing cultures. Check out “How to Visit Shichahai” for more information on the transport to get to Shichhai.
I happen to meet a group of foreign students visiting Shichahai ( or also popularly known as Houhai ), and I follow them to record some of their activities using my camera in Shichahai for your reference.
