Plan your Shanghai tour? If you are an automotive fan or you are traveling with your kids, a visit to Shanghai Auto Museum is highly recommended.

To reach Shanghai Auto Museum, you need to take the nearest metro line and interconnect metro line 11 and get off at the station of Anting (安亭), then walk south for about 1.5 km to get to the museum, or you may take the bus no.4 from Anting to the museum.
Shanghai Auto Museum is the first professional auto museum in China. It was officially opened to the public on January 17, 2007. The pavilion covers a floor area of 28,000 square meters and the exhibition area covers more than 10,000 square meters.
There are four sub-exhibition areas, such as the History Hall, the Collection Hall, the Exploration Hall and the temporary exhibition hall. Hundreds of classic, vintage antique cars of nearly 50 brands are displayed in the museum, presenting the wonderful moments of auto development in the century.
Many of the cars on display are American cars and you will also see quite some Chinese cars. The history and evolution are well charted and cars are gleaming.
The museum has three floors. The third floor displays the parts of the cars with education information. There you can learn about braking, gears, seat systems etc, a lovely educational aid for young ones to learn hands-on experience.
The museum is embedded into a huge Auto Expo Park. After your visiting the museum, you may have a stroll around the park.
For the museum itself, you need to spend 2 hours to do justice. Basically you need to have 1/2 day to cover your transfer, visiting the museum and walk around the auto park.
Tuesday-sunday: 9:30-16:30 (ticketing stops at 16:00); Closed on Mondays except holidays
Admission Fee: Adult ticket 60 yuan/person, free admission for children under 1.3m or under 6 years old with valid ID, but must be accompanied by an adult
