Earth Towers of the Hakkas in Fujian is well-known for its long history, unique style, large scale, exquisite structure, varied functions and rich connotation. These buildings were constructed using fire-resistive material and therefore practically impregnable.
The ones that are round in shape are the most famous. Most of the round buildings are three stories high with a diameter of 70-80 meters. The formation of the Earth buildings amplify the wisdom and creativeness of the ancestors of the Hakkas settlers in Yongding County and Nanjing County, Fujian.
The cluster of the ancient Ming and Qing buildings in the Peitian Village is one of the three kinds of vernacular Hakkak dwellings. The other two are Tulou(clay buildings) in Southwest Fujian and Weilong Wu (circled dragon houses) in Meizhou of east Guangdong.
There are about 270 ancient dwellings in this area, and 159 of them have been listed as protected buildings. Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, represented by nine typical buildings such as the former residences of Shen Baozhen, Lin Jemin and Yan Fu, have been declared as national key cultural relic protection units by the State Council.
Kaiyuan Temple, which is situated in West Street of Quanzhou City, is the largest temple in Fujian Province. The temple is one of the outstanding examples of Chinese architecture and art.

Taimu Mountain, located in the northeast of Fujian Province. In a narrow sense, Taimu Mountain refers to the mountainous area centered on Fuding Peak in Qinyu Town in the south of Fuding City. It is also the core area of Taimu Mountain Scenic Spot. It is 45 kilometers south of Fuding City. It stands on the shore of the East China Sea, facing the sea on three sides and backing mountains on one side. The main peak is 917.3 meters above sea level.
Taimu Mountain is the only mountain peak forest landform developed on the terrain of granite hills in China, and also the only mountain peak forest landform in the Jingdong granite belt in China. It was listed in the World Geopark in 2010.
Taining Scenic Area: Taining World Geological Park, the national geological park, the national key cultural relics protection units, the national non-material cultural heritage, one of China top ten famous town charm, the Chinese excellent tourism county.
The main landscape features are water Danxia, canyon community, cave wonders and primitive ecology, which is a collection of singularity, diversity, leisure and culture.
The park is a comprehensive geopark with the typical youth Danxia landform as the main body and various geological relics such as volcanic rock, granite and tectonic landform.
Meizhou Island, only 1.82 nautical miles away from the mainland, is located 42 kilometers southeast of Putian City, Fujian. It has a land area of 14.35 square kilometers and a population of 38,000 with the coastline of 30.4 kilometers. The island is 9.6 kilometers long from north to south and 1.3 kilometers wide from east to west.
Meizhou island, known as "Southland Penglai" boasts the Mazu Temple, the gold beaches, the little stone forest and more scenic spots. Especially It is known for being the birthplace of the goddess Mazu. The Heavenly Empress Palace-Meizhou Ancestral Temple has now been renovated and greatly enlarged to accommodate pilgrims.
In 1998, Meizhou Island was designated as an open tourism economic zone of Fujian Province. In 1992, it was established as a national tourism resort. In December 2020, Meizhou Island was listed as a national AAAAA scenic spot.
Xiapu County was established in Qing Dynasty in the year of 1734. Now it is under the adminsitration of Ningde City, in the northeast of Fujian Province.
It is located in a coastal peninsular area with the coastline of 505 kilometers. There are more than 400 islands in Xiapu. The long coastline and numerous islands and harbors have become the geographical characteristics of Xiapu.
Now Xiapu is very popular among landscapes photograpy lovers.
