Plan your Chengdu tour? Wangjiang Pavilion Park is a nice place to appreciate the Chinese traditional architectures and the bamboo landscape, as well as get to know Xue Tao (768 – 832), a famous poetess in Tang Dynasty.
The park was originally built in Ming and Qing dynasties in commermoration of Xue Tao (768 – 832), a famous poetess in Tang Dynasty. She was versatile and pretty. She wrote over 500 poems, She was greatly admired by her contemporaries.
There are a few renowned ancient buildings of Qing Dynasty ( 1644 – 1911 ) in the park, including Chongli Pavilion, Brocade Washing Pavilion, Poems Chanting Pavilion,Huan Jian Pavilion etc.
So actually Wangjiang Pavilion Park is named after a group of the ancient pavilions overlooking Jinjiang River in the park. The park is also often translated as "Wangjiang Tower Park".
Among the several "River Viewing" pavilions, Chongli Pavilion is the tallest with the spectacular view. "Chongli"(崇丽)literally means " tall and pretty". It is over 30 meters high, with four layers - the upper two layers for the octagonal, the lower two layers for the quadrangle. It has a gilt top, a yellow roof ridge, with green tiles, red columns, and high angle eaves.
